Leeches, Quicksilver, Megavitamins, and Learning DisabilitiesJohn R. Kershner University of Toronto
Roger D. Freeman Professor of Psychiatry, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canadaz The rationale underlying megavitamin therapy for remediating children's learning disorders is discussed. It is concluded that the theoretical arguments put forward for such treatment are unconvincing, based on questionable logic, and wholly unsupported by experimental findings. The need is underscored for an internally valid theoretical foundation and for controlled field studies of such therapies prior to their large-scale clinical use.
